The 411 On Skin Care
The skin is the largest organ in the human body, and yet, it is usually the most neglected. It is, more often than not, left to fend for itself against constant insect attacks and the prickly heat of the sun, among other things. People expect the skin to recuperate in no time and with no personal involvement. But just like any other effort, skin care has its mighty rewards.
Due to the hectic lives we lead in this fast paced world, we easily forget to take care of our bodies and health in general. The skin is one of the many casualties of this tragedy. If we are stressed, worn out, or even just lacking sleep, all these unhealthy occurrences take a toll on our skin. The skin hides nothing. As we continue to tolerate these, our skin continues to degenerate. It will not only let you look ten years older than you actually are, but your health may well be at risk.
Skin care is important because the skin is the overall protector of the body. Taking good care of our skin is hitting a million birds with one little stone. Skin care creates a positive domino effect in our body system. Flawless, glowing skin almost automatically implies a healthy body and a wholesome lifestyle. Who would not want to look in tip top shape?
Skin care comes in many forms – exercise, dieting, and the more hands-on type. Our bodily organs are interrelated, so just as every wound or infection can negatively affect the rest of our body, a simple bath or a good workout can create wonders, especially for our skin. However, the earth’s present condition is not so conducive for health, considering the thinning ozone layer and global warming. Therefore we must take the initiative to find ways to protect our body, most especially our skin.
In today’s global market, we can find millions of skin care products that have been “tried and tested”, and are “highly desirable for daily use”. Because of the repetitive nature of the promotion of these skin care products, one may find himself or herself in a dilemma. Which skin care product to select?
Before we can answer that question, it is imperative that we do our research first. The world is not what it was decades ago. Information is one click away. There is no excuse for ignorance now. It is assumed that we are people who can successfully make informed choices.
It is also necessary that we get to know the ever loyal defender that is our skin — its allergic reactions, skin type, skin complexion and so forth. The skin of one person is definitely different from the skin of another. To know our skin comprehensively is one step closer to the ultimate skin care that will prove to be your infallible weapon against skin diseases and aging too fast.
Remember, before we embark on any new adventure with the world’s hottest new skin care line that all the celebrities are using today as shown on entertainment television, we should see to it first that these products are worth our time, money, and health. After all, skin care is an investment from where we all intend to reap gold in the form of the best results, and nothing less.

However, people who want to use these products on their skin have to consult a dermatologist or a skin doctor to be able to get the various acne treatment products that this brand has to offer. While some of the company’s general skin care items are available over the counter, the Neostrata skin care for acne line is dispensed only with a prescription from a certified skin care professional or a dermatologist.
The Neostrata skin care for acne line is composed of a few different products that are specifically created to deal with oily skin, which is the kind of skin that is highly susceptible to the development of acne problems. The company manufactures and sells numerous skin care products for different skin types and different uses, and it has a full range of products to treat acne. The Neostrata skin care for acne line is considered one of the most effective acne treatment and prevention lines in the world and a lot of users have experienced the benefits of its products. However, the company’s popularity does not end with this line, and it extends to other popular skin care and skin treatment items. Healthy Skin Care All Winter Long
We may not want to admit it, but winter is just around the corner. This means that your skin care regime must change in order to accommodate those harsh winds and dry days.
Stocking up on quality skin care products is a good idea, though these products alone won’t help you fight those winter winds. Thankfully, there are some things that you can do to protect your skin all winter long. Do you want to know the best part about winter skin care steps? They are easy to accomplish, and they will provide you with glowing skin all year long.
Let’s begin with dry skin, since it is the number one skin care complaint during the winter months. Many people believe that dry skin is caused by a lack of oil within the skin Simply put, this is not true. You see, dry skin occurs when water is lacking. Drink more water during the winter months, and make sure to slather yourself in a good natural moisturizer when you get out of the shower every morning.
Additionally, if you get into the habit of eating healthy foods that contain lots of fatty acids, you will find that your skin responds favourably to this type of diet. Foods like nuts, figs, dried fruits, and some seeds are packed with the nutrients that your skin needs. It is also really important to use a great facial moisturizer daily.
What is considered a “good” facial moisturizer? Well, a lot of skin care products claim to be made from natural, healthy, ingredients, but the fact is that many of these products contain alcohol. Alcohol will dry out your face faster than any winter wind will. So, if you are using an alcohol based moisturizer every day, you are effectively sucking the moisture out of your skin daily.
Instead, look for a moisturizer that contains natural ingredients. Also, follow up your nightly cleansing routine with a good mask that will replenish your skin Masks that contain mud are packed with nutrients and ingredients that will help fight dry winter skin Skin care during the winter months is a bit different from skin care during the summer months, so make sure to switch skin care products accordingly
How often should you change your skin care products? Well, that depends upon the quality of the product itself. Products that are made from wholesome ingredients tend to work wonders all year long. However, if you are using a product that dries your skin out, you can be sure that this product will not help your skin at all. As you can see, the types of skin care products that you use really will make a difference this winter.
Those winter winds are harsh – there’s no getting around this fact. Still, you can fight the brutal hands of Mother Nature with just a few quick skin care tips. Remember to moisturize, drink plenty of water, eat the right fruits, and to use top natural products. When it comes to skin care, it never pays to neglect the needs of your skin.

Many girls learn, by age 12, to drop formerly enjoyable activities in favor of the beauty treadmill leading to nowhere. They become fanatical about diets. They munch, like rabbits, on leaves without salad dressing, jog in ice storms, and swear they love it! Ads abound for cosmetic surgery, enticing us to “repair” our aging bodies, as if the natural process of aging were an accident or a disease. Yet with all this effort, they still never feel like they are good enough.
Healthy skin is really one of the most important ingredients for beauty-enhancement. This article on skin care tips is an effort to bring the 10 best skin care tips to you. The list of skin care tips has been restricted to 10 because anything more that that would not only be difficult to remember, but also shadow the more important skin care tips.
Top 10 skin care tips
So let’s see what these top ten skin care tips are:
* Knowing your skin type is one of the most important skin care tip. This is important because not every skin care product suits everyone. In fact, all the skin care products specify the type of skin they cater too.
* Drink a lot of water? This will not keep your skin moist but will help in overall upkeep of your health (and in turn your skin). It might seem a bit awkward to some, however, this is an important skin care tip.
* Cleanse your skin regularly (1-2 times everyday). A very effective skin care tip that helps in getting rid of the dirt and other harsh elements from your skin. Cleansing is especially important when you have been out of your house (and hence exposed to pollutants, dust etc). This skin care tip also advocates the use of Luke warm water for cleansing (hot and cold water, both, cause damage to your skin)
* Be gentle, after all it’s your skin. Don’t scrub/exfoliate too hard or too often. Similarly, don’t apply too much or too many skin care products. A must-to-follow skin care tip.
* Keep your skin moist at all times. This is one of the most important skin care tip. Don’t let your skin get dry. Dryness causes the outer layer of your skin to break, leading to a rough and unattractive appearance. Use moisturisers/emollients. Moisturisers work best when applied while the skin is still damp.
* Avoid the use of soap on your face. Soap should only be used from below the neck. A small but important skin care tip.
* Use sunscreen to protect yourself from sun’s harmful UV radiations. You can use day-time moisturisers that have sunscreen built into them. Use them even when it’s cloudy. UV radiations are known to cause skin cancer, so follow this skin care tip without fail.
* A bit of exercise and good sleep are essential too, not just for skin care but for your health as a whole. Lack of sleep can lead to formation of wrinkles below your eyes and lack of exercise can cause your skin to slack. Moreover, exercise and sleep also help in beating stress. So besides being a skin care tip, this is also a health care tip.
* Treat skin dilemmas with care. This skin care tip is about not ignoring any skin dilemmas. Consult your dermatologist before you go on to use a skin care product (lest you do end up harming your skin even more).
* Beat the stress. The harmful effects of stress are known to everyone, however, sometimes stating the obvious is essential too (and hence this skin care tip found its place here). Yes, stress harms skin too. So, take a break or indulge in a warm bubble bath or just get good sleep.

Natural Skin Care – The Simplest Remedy is Hydration
If you feel fatigued and your skin is dry and wrinkled, it may not be old age creeping up on you. You just might be dehydrated. The simplest natural skin care remedy is staying hydrated. Hydration results in better health and gorgeous skin.
Well-moisturized skin glows and is soft and supple to the touch. Staying hydrated as part of your natural skin care helps slow the signs of aging. It also protects you from dry skin, cracking, itching, chapping, and pain while helping your skin’s ability to heal.
Even the symptoms of mild dehydration are noticeable in your body. Dehydration can occur after only a two percent loss or shortage of water in your body. This is why staying hydrated is an important aspect in natural skin care. Typical symptoms experienced with mild dehydration include thirst, fatigue, dry mouth, weakness, decreased urination, loss of appetite, and dry skin.
Dehydration can happen for several reasons other than not drinking enough water. Temperature, climate, medications, illness, and activity level can all lead to dehydration and dry skin. Natural skin care experts estimate that people lose a good amount of water just by breathing, urinating, sweating, and generally going about daily activities. With a high level of activity and a hot temperature, your body looses water quickly.
The first step in natural skin care is to hydrate your body from the inside out by drinking plenty of water. By sipping water throughout your day, you will help your skin maintain a balance of moisture. When you stay hydrated, your skin cells plump up, protecting your skin from dryness and moisture loss. Most natural skin care experts recommend drinking six to eight glasses of water per day, but this may vary depending on the amount of water your body loses, as some days you may need to replenish your body with more water than on other days.
The best amount of water to drink for natural skin care is the amount that feels right to you. Everyone is different and no set amount is perfect for every person. Never force yourself to drink water, as drinking too much water is dangerous. Do not gulp water, either. Leisurely sipping throughout your day is ideal.
Water acts as a natural skin care diuretic, assisting your kidneys in releasing toxins from your body. This can only happen if your body has enough water.
Drinking water as part of natural skin care allows you to hydrate the inside of your body, but there are also natural skin care remedies for the outside that you can apply directly to your skin.
Moisturizers – Slather on a natural skin care moisturizer made from natural ingredients as a healthy way to seal in your body’s natural moisture, especially after a bath or shower. Natural skin care moisturizers offer a nourishing treat for your skin that also helps to fight aging.
Facial Mists – Consider mixing up a natural skin care facial mist from natural ingredients that contain beneficial antioxidants. Facial mists feel great on hot summer days while warm facial mists are a treat on cold winter days. Carry a small misting bottle containing your favorite natural skin care facial mist with you for a quick spritz throughout your day. Facial mists offer another great way to fight moisture loss from the outside.
Natural skin care, and in particular facial rejuvenation natural recipes you mix up yourself at home, offer ingredients that hydrate, heal, renew, and protect. Natural skin care’s simplest remedy is stay hydrated and stay beautiful.

Skin care is much more than just buying expensive skin care products and hoping they’ll keep the skin looking healthy and young. The skin is a living, breathing organ that reflects the body’s general state of health, irrespective of what skin care products you choose to use.
In the following article we will look at the type of skin care that should be used at different stages in our lives and other factors you need to include in your ‘health plan’ to maximize the long term health of your skin.
Teenagers
Why should a teenager, male or female, bother with skin care? After all their skin is young, supple, has no wrinkles, and has all the elasticity it requires.
This is a stage at which skin is undergoing considerable change. Hormones are going ‘crazy’ and the whole body of a teenager is developing into its adult form and functions – even the skin.
Acne is a probability during the teenage years and this is a very good reason to pay particular attention to your skin. Acne affects almost every teenager to some degree. In some cases acne can be so bad that it is necessary to seek professional medical advice and resort to having it specifically treated. However, in most cases, acne is more of a nuisance then a medical problem and by adopting a daily skin care regime using natural and organic skin care products, the effects of the acne can be reduced if not entirely eliminated.
Young men have an additional issue with their skin – shaving. Not only do they get acne, but they start growing facial hair and begin shaving. Razor blades and acne pimples do not mix and cuts can lead to infections and spreading of acne.
This should be avoided at all costs. Using natural shaving products which contain antiseptic herbs and essential oils will help to minimize infection and spreading of acne pimples.
Adults
Following the tumultuous years of being a teenager, putting up with acne and if you’re a male starting to shave, now is the time for giving your skin all that you can to maintain its health, youthful looks and build its resistance to prevent premature aging. By now, your skin will have developed its basic skin types and your choice of natural skin care system(s) should reflect your skin types. Yes, there are usually more then one skin type.
Often there is an oily T-zone while the cheeks, neck and eye regions are either normal or have a tendency to be dry. If this is the case, you literally need to treat the different areas with different products. That is, you need to use skin care products for oily skin on your oily T-zone and products suitable for normal or dry skin on the remaining area of your facial skin and neck.
Again you need to take care of your skin on a daily basis and should include an exfoliant and/or facial clay mask at least once every week.
As the body ages, skin cell renewal slows and elastin and collagen production also take a nose dive. This is when fine lines and wrinkles start to appear. The precise age at which this starts to happen depends on your genes and to a large extent on how well you’ve been caring for your skin; how much sun exposure your skin has been subjected to and how much exposure it has had to the elements and other environmental factors. Changing hormones also become a factor again during the 40’s and 50’s in most women.
Some people’s skin looks 30 in their 70’s and they did very little to make this happen – they are the very lucky and isolated ones. Most people find that as they get older the skin reflects this by showing its age too. This is where the effort of the past few decades will start to pay off, if you’ve been using a good quality, daily skin care regime, stayed out of the sun as much as possible, eat a healthy diet rich in fruits and vegetables, and generally looked after your body’s health, your skin will reflect this also – you are what you eat and this truth starts to show itself in later years.
Bothering to take care of your skin is not just for preserving a youthful, healthy skin, but your skin’s health will have a marked effect on your body’s health. The skin is a major organ that has many important functions to perform and if we do not look after the health of our skin, this can result in other, more serious health problems.
Similarly, if you have health problems, these will be reflected on your skin. For example, liver problems can cause skin discolorations, as can kidney problems. The skin around the eyes is often tinged brown or black if there is liver or kidney disease. Jaundice is a well-known symptom of liver disease, for example hepatitis.
Chronic dehydration will lead to dry wrinkly skin; chronic inflammation or infection can cause hypersensitivity of the skin. Skin problems can result from a deficiency of vitamin A, niacin, vitamin C and many other nutrients including several amino acids, a deficiency in dietary minerals, and so on.
All the skin care products in the world will not make your skin look healthier or younger, if you do not look after and treat your internal health problems.

Anti Aging Skin Care, What to Look For in an Effective Anti Aging …
As you get older, your body shows the effects of age. However, it is quite natural that you would wish to have younger looking skin at any.
Serious Skin Care for Men. But Do They Need It?
Women are very interested in the science of skin care, particularly as they age. As those wrinkles and lines form, as they notice their skin starting to sag and look less youthful, they begin to consider the use of good skin care …
Teen Skin Care Basics
When do you need to start using skin care?
Pretty much as soon as puberty kicks in. This is the time when the body starts to experience the many changes that come with this cycle. On average, this can be any time from the age of 12.
As your body undergoes massive hormonal changes you’ll start to notice changes to your skin too. This is when most girls will start to use skin care products.
Use products with natural and botanical ingredients rather than chemical ones. Natural is far more gentle and less likely to aggravate your skin. Not only that, doesn’t it make sense to opt for things that come from nature to put on your face rather than ones cooked up in a lab!
Look for products that aim to balance skin to counteract all the imbalance that’s happening during this time. If you start to develop good skin care habits early it will help to avoid skin problems during the teen years and beyond.
What’s the real deal in terms of what I need to do to look after my skin?
1. Keep skin clean. Cleansing skin and using the right type of cleanser is the number one thing you can do for your skin. Alkaline cleansers or ones that contain (Sodium Lauryl Sulphate) SLS strip surface oil from the skin, leaving it depleted. The oil glands respond by pumping out more oil to compensate, leading to skin that is out of balance and prone to problems.
Cleanse skin morning and night to remove dirt, grime and make-up, which, if left on skin, clogs pores and leads to skin congestion, often resulting in breakouts. Do not over-cleanse, which a lot of people with oily skin tend to do. Over-cleansing will again just act to dry out the skin surface and result in the skin trying to fix that problem by producing more oil.
2. Wash your face after exercising. This is very important. All that salty sweat is basically toxic waste (toxins) being released from your body. It is coming out of your body and you need to remove it by thoroughly rinsing your face with water until you can no longer taste the saltiness.
3. Exfoliate 2-3 times a week. Exfoliating skin is an essential part of a good skin care regimen. Exfoliating skin removes cells from the skin’s surface, not only immediately refreshing skin’s appearance but also stimulating cell renewal.
Everyone exfoliates naturally. About a million tiny skin cells fall off the body in a minute! By using an exfoliator, you are helping the body in this process. Exfoliating removes dull surface cells to reveal a healthier, more vibrant complexion.
Avoid abrasive scrubs on problem skin. If you have pimples, blemishes or acne, these can be easily opened up or irritated with the abrasive particles contained in some exfoliators. Like open wounds, harsh exfoliation can leave blemishes subject to even more infection, taking them longer to heal.
If you don’t have problem skin, a harsh exfoliator can create problems by over-stimulating the skin sebum, resulting in over-production of oil. Exfoliating is a vital step in a skin care regimen, but it should always be gentle exfoliation, which is why natural exfoliants are your best bet.
4. Moisturise your skin. Your skin is exposed to daily environmental stresses – sun, smoke, pollutants, highly processed foods. Moisturiser is your defence against these assaults. It works to protect the skin against attack, and to nourish, replenish and feed the skin with essential nutrients.
What’s the deal with pimple creams – do they work?
Yes, they work but you need to find the one that works for you.
As a general rule, those products designed to dry out pimples are very harsh and using them on skin that is infected only aggravates it. This tissue needs soothing, calming, antibacterial products, not harsh, caustic creams.
Many a teen girl has experienced using one of these products to find that they only make your skin red and aggravated and sometimes make the problem worse. Anything that is too harsh can aggravate your problem or lead to irritation.
Nature has an abundance of natural pimple-fighting ingredients – things like sea buckthorn berry oil, tea tree oil and neem oil, to name a few. All have proven benefits on pimples and oily skin. Stick to products that source pimple-fighting ingredients from plants and flowers and not chemicals.
Is it good to put essential oils on your skin?
Essential oils are the concentrated parts of plants produced for their own survival and protection from disease. These precious oils influence the plant’s growth and reproduction, ensuring a long and healthy life.
The structure of essential oils is close to that of the fluids and oils on our skin. They are readily absorbed and able to penetrate to the deepest layers. They are also proven to help correct problems such as wrinkles, excessive oiliness or dryness, blemishes and uneven skin tone.
Essential oils can promote the elimination of dead cells, regenerate new ones and prevent the growth of harmful bacteria. So, are they good for your skin – you bet!
Now, you might think oil on oily skin – no way, but seriously, they are skin saviours. Different oils have different benefits – some designed to control oil production, balance skin and others to promote healing.
Do you need a toner as part of your skin care regimen?
Toners are also called astringents or clarifying lotions. These are claimed to tighten skin pores, reduce the size of enlarged pores, and ‘balance’ the production of oil in the skin.
Most of these products contain alcohol or natural ‘astringents’ that can actually be quite harsh on the skin. The alcohol can make the skin feel ‘refreshed’ or tight and clean (just like men’s aftershave lotions, which are also alcohol-based), but they do this by removing the oils from the skin, not by changing the size of the skin’s pores.
People with dry skin actually need the skin’s natural oils and can damage their skin by using toners or astringents. People with oily skin simply make their problem worse with these types of products by signalling the body to over-compensate and produce more oil.
Do natural ingredients contain preservatives?
There is no such thing as a preservative-free skin care product. Products claiming to be all-natural or organic do need to use preservatives to protect against bacterial contamination.
Without preservatives, your skin care products would get mouldy. As yet, there is not a highly effective all natural preservative so most skin products, even the natural ones, do use synthetic preservatives. But there are some preservatives that are milder and less irritating than others. As a general rule of thumb steer clear of products that use paraben preservatives
Does what you eat affect your skin?
For years experts have told us that there is no link between diet and pimples and then surprise, surprise just recently a major research report showed that teens that changed from a high fat, greasy diet to one high in fruit and vegetables experienced an incredible change in their skin.
In most cases, the pimples were significantly reduced. It kinda figures that you put bad stuff into your body then it will come out in the form of bad stuff – zits!
Does smoking and alcohol affect your skin?
Absolutely! Drinking alcohol and smoking cigarettes can dull the complexion and damage the quality of the skin.
This is because the nicotine in the tobacco smoke narrows the blood vessels taking oxygen to the skin via the bloodstream. The skin with less oxygen takes on a greyish tinge. Fine lines and wrinkles appear because the skin is dry and less elastic.
If you want gorgeous, glowing skin, dump the cigarettes.

A Simple Anti Aging Skin Care Guide Anyone Can Use
I have a confession to make. For many years I used an anti aging skin care treatment recommended by a very famous movie star (I won’t mention her name) in an article in Life magazine. This skin care treatment went something like this: don’t towel off after a shower or bath, but combine the water on your body with petroleum jelly and rub in until completely absorbed.
Following an anti aging skin care guide by a movie star, who has professional make up people and studio lights to make her look beautiful, should have been my first hint that her advice probably wasn’t a good thing. But I’ll talk more about this a little later.
Anti aging skin care treatment continues to be in high demand by women who want to keep a youthful appearance. And like with anything else in life, using a little common sense and some simple, but important information can help create an effective anti aging skin care guide – a guide that anyone can use and one which works with the skin’s own natural ability to sustain its youthful longevity.
1. Moderate your exposure to the sun. Sunlight, in small doses, is good for you. It’s a wonderful source of Vitamin D which is important for maintaining your calcium balance and boosting your immunity. But in large doses, sunlight has the potential to do great damage to the skin by decreasing the skin’s natural ability to produce the tissue-repairing substance, hyaluronan. We also know that excessive exposure to sunlight can cause skin cancer.
So to protect your skin’s hyaluronan, avoid going out during peak sunlight exposure hours (10 am – 2 pm). If you have to be outdoors during this time, wear a hat to keep the sun off your face.
Why am I not recommending sunscreen? I believe that hats are preferable to sunscreen simply because the synthetic chemicals present in these products can be potentially harmful.
2. Maintain a healthy intake of water. Any effective anti aging skin care treatment includes a healthy intake of water. Because your body is made up of 70% water, it’s essentially a machine powered by water. All bodily systems, including your skin, need to be kept well hydrated in order to function the way nature intended.
You can increase the benefits of drinking water by making sure its pure, filtered water. 8 glasses of purified water, drunk throughout the day, is a wonderful way to enhance over-all anti aging skin care.
3. Include plenty of green, leafy vegetables in your diet. I know you’ve heard this advice before. But the reason its a part of this anti aging skin care guide is because these foods play a major role in keeping your skin looking young and healthy.
The antioxidant properties of vegetables like spinach and broccoli fight the production of highly destructive free radicals. Aging of the skin is the result of the damage that these tiny molecules are capable of inflicting. Keeping the production of free radicals at a minimum by eating dark green leafy vegetables is a simple AND delicious anti aging skin care treatment.
4. Use only high quality, nature-based, skin care products. There is an over-abundant supply of anti aging skin care creams on the market. Many of them are able to produce a temporary positive appearance with their synthetic, wrinkle and line-filling ingredients. Unfortunately, there is no long term, healthy improvement of the skin.
Which brings me back to the reason that the movie star’s advice to use petroleum jelly was so bad… it’s because this substance comes from petroleum…the same substance that is used to manufacture gasoline. While my skin may have felt soft, I was clogging my pores and causing long-term damage to my skin cells.
The most truly effective skin care products are the ones containing high concentrations of natural ingredients that work to stimulate your body’s own production of collagen and elastins. Don’t be fooled by a skin cream that is promoted as being collagen-based. These products are useless because the collagen molecules in these creams are too large to penetrate the cells of the skin.
You can help stimulate your skin’s own collagen and elastin production by looking for products that contain ingredients such as phytessence wakame and nanobelle CoenzymeQ10.
Now that you have this simple anti aging skin care guide, I hope you will do your own exploration of the best anti aging skin care treatments. You will find, as I did, that there are high quality products available that will help you achieve the results you’re looking for.

While many companies tout the benefits of using a skin care cream, not many are able to provide one that actually nourishes and heals your skin. In fact, the opposite is often true. Many skin care creams contain ingredients that are banned in most foreign countries due to their dangerous and harmful properties.
To truly benefit your skin, you need more than a skin care moisturizer cream. You must not just simply moisturize it, you must also feed and nourish it by providing nutrients both internally and topically. Even that is just not enough, why would you simply provide it with nutrients if you are also simultaneously applying harsh chemicals and ingredients that suffocate and kill your skin?
The answer then is in knowing which ingredients should be in your skin care cream and which ones should never be applied to your skin. Your skin is a vital organ, and therefore your skin care moisturizer cream should be all natural and contain ingredients to nourish your skin as well as moisturize it.
Ingredients that Never Should Be Applied to Your Skin
While environmental toxins and heavy metals can be a root cause in many skin disorders, these can usually be cleared up with the use of a cleansing program. However, most skin care issues are not caused by bad diet, health issues, or environmental sources. Many skin care problems are caused simply by the application of an ineffective skin care cream that contain ingredients that are harmful in the long run.
Being aware of these ingredients can aid you greatly in selecting a skin care moisturizer cream that will be effective in improving the health and appearance of your skin. Here are a few that should be avoided in any skin care moisturizer cream.
1. Mineral Oil – This is a byproduct of the petroleum industry. It is actually just a fancy way of saying hydrogenated gasoline. Have you read the labels on the gas pumps lately? Do not inhale fumes, can cause cancer and birth defects. And people today are applying mineral oil, petrolatum, and paraffin wax, the other fancy names of this product, as if it is the latest skin care miracle. The truth is it is like wrapping your skin in plastic. A skin care moisturizer cream must allow your skin to breath. Ingredients like mineral oil simply suffocate your skin cells and clogs up your pores. It is even banned in Europe.
2. Dioxane – This is a synthetic derivative of coconut. This carcinogenic chemical is added to many skin care creams. It can literally kill your skin and eventually lead to cancer. And people pay good money to slather it on.
3. Fragrances – It’s nice if a product smells nice. However, synthetic perfumes contain chemicals such as PBA’s that are known to cause disease. Fragrances are usually petroleum based and can cause dizziness, rashes, respiratory problems, vomiting, skin irritation, and multiple skin problems. If you are looking to a skin care cream to make you smell nice, look elsewhere. Many of the preservatives and scent enhancers found in fragrances are known to cause birth defects, reproductive problems, and cancers.
4. Parabens – It doesn’t matter what prefix you place on this ingredient, all parabens are bad. They may make the moisturizing products last on the store shelves indefinitely, but they do just the opposite to your skin. Talk about fast track aging. They also interfere with the body’s hormonal balance and adversely affect the adrenal system and brain.
5. Alcohols – alcohol and skin care moisturizer cream should not be used in the same sentence. Alcohol removes moisture from the skin. Not only do they remove moisture, but most aren’t even safe. You should avoid ethanol, ethyl, methanol, benzyl and isopropyl alcohol. These are often derived from gasoline and other fuel source gases. If you wouldn’t expose yourself to inhaling gasoline and natural gas, then why would you want it in a skin care cream. They strip away the skins natural defenses and leave it open to diseases and infections.
As you look for a quality skin care cream, you will run into many other ingredients that should be avoided. Some of these include: Formaldehyde, aluminum, animal fat (sodium tallowate), sodium laurel sulfate, bentonite, butane, collagen, DEA, MEA, TEA, dioxins, fluorocarbons, Glycerin, and much, much more. Yes, believe it or not, these are all ingredients found in skin care creams.
Make no mistake about it. The effects of a low quality skin care moisturizer cream can actually be worse than no cream at all. On the other hand a skin care cream that is manufactured with safety and effectiveness in mind can be the beginning of giving new life to your skin.
