Wrinkles - what's worth knowing about them?
- by Joanna Draniak-KicinskaEach of us dreams of a beautiful, young and flawless complexion. However, we often reach for anti-aging cream only when wrinkles are already visible on the skin. Usually, the purchase is prompted by loud marketing slogans such as: "turn back time by 10 years" or "use this product to forget all about wrinkles". But can cosmetics actually do it?
What does aging depend on?
Certainly genetics, but also factors related to our lifestyle and environmental factors. A lot depends on us. Inappropriate diet, stress, stimulants or exposure of the skin to UV radiation will make wrinkles appear earlier. This is confirmed by the observations of the skin of twins, who, despite their similar genotype, may look significantly different depending on the lifestyle they lead.
Types of wrinkles
-
Mimic wrinkles are those that usually appear first on the skin, especially in people with vivid facial expressions. They often appear around the eyes, mouth, between the eyebrows and on the forehead.
- Another type we can observe are gravity wrinkles. When the amount of collagen and elastin in the skin, responsible for its firmness and elasticity, begins to decline, it becomes more susceptible to the influence of the gravitational forces and gravitational wrinkles appear on it.
- Structural wrinkles are those that arise on our skin as a result of intense UV radiation. Remember that whenever we expose our skin to the sun, it activates destructive enzymes, the so-called metalloproteinases which cut collagen and thus reduce skin elasticity. Such wrinkles appear most quickly in the neckline area.
Active ingredients in the fight against wrinkles
Cosmetology is constantly evolving and its undoubtedly one of the greatest achievements in recent times is the discovery of Bakuchiol. This cutting-edge plant-derived ingredient comes from edible seeds. It has an Ayurvedic origin and is a healthy and safe alternative to retinol.
Bakuchiol provides the same proven anti-aging properties, but without the negative side effects such as skin dryness, irritation and photosensitivity. It boosts collagen and elastin production, revealing smooth skin.
This highly effective antioxidant also has anti-inflammatory properties. It helps to maintain the integrity of the skin’s natural lipid barrier, leaving skin nourished, calm and rejuvenated.
Anti-aging skincare products are understandably very popular. The substances used in them can significantly improve the appearance of the skin.
Remember, however, that when wrinkles appear on our skin, removing them fully is very difficult and often requires invasive methods.
Therefore, it is very important to counteract wrinkles much sooner. A healthy lifestyle and avoiding harmful external factors will certainly keep the skin in good condition for longer.
Skin care products are more effective in preventing the formation of wrinkles, than treating them.
Therefore, it’s crucial to introduce a skin care routine even before wrinkles begin to emerge. To prevent signs of aging, we recommend using products with Bakuchiol including our Rejuvenating Moisturizer, Ultra-light Moisturizer and Smoothing Eye Cream. All {save} products can be used in combination, so feel free to add other products to address other areas of concern.
