Happy Working Parent’s Day!

- by Joanna Draniak-Kicinska
As today is Working Parent’s Day, I wanted to take a moment to celebrate all of you working parents! I’ve always enjoyed balancing my role as a mother and a CEO.

I’m passionate about my girls and my career. With the help of my husband Michal, we’ve been able to work side by side as partners and parents. Before the pandemic began, our girls were in school so we had more flexibility. Working from home or our office in Martinsburg or our new space in Berkeley Springs. As you may know, we signed a lease in March for new space, to include a studio and a lab to begin product manufacturing in the United States! Due to the pandemic this has not gone according to plan, but we are excited to begin this new venture in Berkeley Springs.

Just like many of you, our world changed in March when the pandemic struck our area. This resulted in school being closed, which made it challenging to work and homeschool/entertain our two girl’s day after day. I understand the challenges that many of you are facing adapting to a new normal. While we are unsure what the future holds, we can be certain that it will be different, and we will need to continue to make adjustments in almost all areas of our lives.

Michal and I have always been a strong team and that hasn’t changed during the pandemic. At home, Michal is our resident baker, and prepares breakfast and gets the girls ready for the day while I start working. We tag team through the day, mixing between work and family.

In business we’ve gotten used to meeting with partners virtually and by phone, with an increased emphasis on email. For our {save} team, this means working remotely, and having weekly staff meetings outside while the weather is still nice. As we continue to grow our team, we anticipate virtual interviews and remote work as much as possible to meet the needs of our employees.

While growth is still our goal, we also understand that we are living in unprecedented times, and understand sometimes we need to shift our focus.

Please take a moment to celebrate the success you’ve experienced during this pandemic. Success isn’t always a straight line, so enjoy the journey!

xoxo
Joanna
