Our first 4th of July celebration

- by Joanna Draniak-Kicinska
This Saturday will be our first-time celebrating the 4th of July in the United States.

A true celebration of the history of the United States. I recently learned that some consider July 2nd 1776 the true “Independence Day” since this is when the continental congress voted in favor of independence, although the Declaration of Independence was not formally adopted until two days later, July 4th!

While I’m not sure exactly what to expect, we do have a BBQ planned with sparklers, and hope to see some fireworks in our neighborhood, as we enjoy the freedoms of this great nation. In a time of unrest and difficulties, I still know how lucky we are to be here. I recognize we have been provided opportunities here that would not have been possible elsewhere. One of which is our upcoming expansion to Berkeley Springs.

As many of you know, we are moving into our new space in Berkeley Springs in the next week. With Covid we had to delay our move in date, but we are thrilled to begin utilizing our new space and continuing to develop our research and development department. The dynamic team at Blue Ridge Community and Technical College is doing all they can to ensure the safety of our team as well as the students, faculty and other tenants on the building. Again, we feel so grateful to be a part of this team. As we expand, we hope to have the opportunity to provide internship opportunities with students from the college, and hire for a few positions! Exciting times ahead!

As we get closer to the upcoming holiday, I am counting my blessings to be headquartered in a gorgeous state and amazing country. I hope you have a wonderful 4th, and are able to spend it with those you love (safely of course)!

Xoxo,

Joanna
